The Malaysia Government has allocated RM 11.4 billion under the 9MP to transform the agriculture sector into modern, dynamic and competitive sector.
The local poultry industry produces about 764,000 tonnes of chicken meat and 7 billion eggs per year.1.2 million tonnes of meat produced annually, 80% is chicken meat. About 10% - 15% of chicken meat produced is exported, mainly to Singapore. Local poultry operators produce about 16 million eggs daily, out of which 2 million are exported to Singapore.
The Klang Valley area in Malaysia will soon have a new and modern poultry slaughterhouse. The MYR 20 million facility, slated for completion in 2008.
The government announced it would allocate RM 342 million ( US$ 105 million ) under the 9th Malaysia plan to develop 49 aquaculture sites nationwide. Malaysia's agriculture ministry aims for the country to harvest 662,000 tonnes of aguaculture production in 2010, four times its current productions. |

Thailand's Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc ( CPF ) expects its cooked chicken product exports this year to rise by 30% to 104,301 tonnes. The Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association estimated that Thailand's total chicken exports would jump 32% to 350,000 tonnes this year.
Betagro Group of Thailand predicts that its total sales this year will rise by 20% this year to THB 30 billion ( US$ 772 million ). Total feed production in Thailand is around 11 million tonnes / year. Thailand's pork exports in 2006 are expected to surge 24% year on year. |

Tyson Food Inc. has finalized a joint venture agreement with Shandong Xinchang Group, one of the China's leading poultry producers with estimated 2009 sales of US$ 345 million. Xinchang also have 4 chicken processing facilities with a maximum capacity of 3 million birds per week.
Beijing Yukou Poultry, one of China's top poultry integrators specialising in commercial layer production, feed production and meat processing, has disclosed its new expansion plan for a feedmill with 150,000 mt annual production capacity.
Yongda Food, one of China's largest halal poultry meat producers based in central China's Henan province, has set up a new plant in Tangyin to increase its annual meat production to over 40,000 metric tonnes this year. A new pork processing plant for Sihai Group or Four Oceans, a major pork cuts producer based in Ziyang, China, will start production in March. |

| PHILIPPINES |

Philippines poultry production reached 1,136.2 thousand tonnes from January to September 2005, up 1.6% from the same period in 2004, records from the Bureau of Agricultural Statistic showed. Total value of production of the poultry subsector for the period was posted at PHP 73.3 billion ( US$ 1.4 billion ), up 3.77% from the previous year..
Chicken egg production posted the biggest increase in output, growing by 8% to 233,820 tonnes, valued at PHP 15.1 billion ( US$ 281 million ). |

The Indonesian government has allocated about US$ 900 million for the fight against avian influenza ( AI ) over the next 3 years. This is in addition to a pledge of US$ 800,000 by the United States and Singapore to finance a pilot project to fight the virus in Tangerang, Banten province.

| VIETNAM |

The Vietnam Government has approved a breeding development strategy until 2020 under which the country's breed industry will shift to industrial production, this was announced by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, Deputy Director of Department of Livestock Production. This will increase the % of closed house farming from the current 20% to 33% in 2010, 49% in 2015 and 60% in 2020. The Government has enacted plans to achieve these goals including the master plan for zoning comemrcial poultry farms and to provide financial support to farmers to convert closed farms including land lease.
CP Vietnam Livestock Co plans to build a new meat processing plant worth US$ 30 million in Vietnam's southern province of Binh Duong. With a capacity of 40,000 tonnes / year, the plant is four times bigger than the company's existing processing facility in Dong Nai province that processes 800 tonnes of chicken, pork and shrimp per month. |

The food processing sectory has been identified as a priority sector in India's new budget plan. The government has allocated INR 1,000 crores ( US$ 225 million ) for agro-processing infrastructure and market development.
Suguna Poultry will be building India's largest feedmill opens in Bangalore. The feedmill would have a capacity of 80 Tonnes Per Hour ( TPH ) and is expandable up to 140 TPH. The feedmill will employ around 2,000 farmers and will source about 1,500 tonnes of raw materials per day from corn farmers. |
