This success can be seen in the growing number of exhibitors and regional attendees. The feed and livestock industry is growing in Asia in spite of the impact of the avian influenza as a result of increasing demand for meat protein. This trend is expected to continue as meat consumption per capita is still low compared to advanced economies.

The impact of avian influenza has positive impact on the industry in the longer term as both producers and consumers are putting greater emphasis on food safety, bio-security, environmental and related issues. The move from traditional backyard farming to modern farming systems has gathered momentum while at the same time, farmers are moving into the downstream sector such as slaughtering and meat processing. All these factors have led to an increase in the demand for modern production and processing systems that conform to international standards. In addition, industry players come to understand the importance of improved feed production and management, animal health and nutrition, closed housing systems, centralised slaughtering facilities and systems and advanced meat processing and packaging technology. LIVESTOCK ASIA 2007 has adopted the theme : " Breeding Businesses in Asia " to provide you with the springboard to the thriving feed and livestock industry in Asia. |
